Arsenal are looking to bring Italian goalkeeper Federico Marchetti from Cagliari for a reported bid of £ 5.5 million. Arsenal’s current No. 1, Manuel Almunia may well return to his former club Osasuna. Manager Arsene Wenger is also keen on bringing Per Mertesacker from Werder Bremen after veteran defender Sol Campbell declined to re-sign for the Gunners. Wenger will look to seal the deal for the German international after his bid for Everton centre-back Phil Jagielka fell through. Meanwhile, Sol Campbell has signed a one year deal with Newcastle United.

Manchester City are set for a major clear-out as Mancini looks to trim his squad down to 25 players that includes 8 players who have been registered with an English club for three years before the age of 21. The list will include some big names like Craig Bellamy, Stephen Ireland, Roque Santa Cruz and Jo. Emmanuel Adebayor may also be loaned out to Juventus if Inter Milan’s Mario Balotelli signs.

Liverpool’s Fernando Torres has committed his future to the Anfield club deflecting any interest from Manchester City. The Reds are closing in on South Korean striker Park Chu-Young from Monaco. Liverpool are also linked with Aston Villa’s full-back Luke Young as Roy Hodgson’s team looks weak in the full-back position. Hodgson has also admitted Javier Mascherano wants to leave the club.

West Ham United have rejected an offer from neighbours Spurs for their midfield enforcer, Scott Parker. In fact the East London club will offer Parker a new deal to keep him at the club.
