India crushes Deportivo Monsanto


Game 2: India 6 Deportivo Monsanto 2

The Indian national team beat Portuguese club side Deportivo Monsanto 6-2 in their second practice game of the Portugal tour. Houghton’s team secured victory by even a bigger margin than the first match. Mohammed Rafi scored two while Anthony Pereira, Renedy Singh, Clifford Miranda and Abhishek Yadav all added to the tally.

The home team took an early lead but India responded quickly after being awarded a penalty in the 20th minute. Renedy Singh converted from the spot kick to score the equalizer. Mohammed Rafi and Anthony Pereira then combined well to score the second and the third respectively. Abhishek Yadav added another before half time with a typical header.

Rafi completed his brace in the second-half before Clifford Miranda sealed the game with a sixth. The home side then scored a consolation goal 12 minutes before time.
