The Indian team is all set to play Thailand in an international friendly on 4th September in Bangkok. Prior to the match India’s centre-back Gouramangi Singh expressed his thoughts regarding the recently concluded Portugal tour and the upcoming friendly against Bryan Robson’s men.

The National side had set up a training camp for nearly two months in Portugal for the upcoming Asian Cup in January, 2011. "The Portugal tour was indeed a good one for us, where all the 30 players got a chance to train together. We too had camp in Portugal earlier, but the biggest challenge is to do well in the coming International Friendly, which will be surely a real test for us," said Gouramangi Singh to the AIFF.

Bob Houghton’s side played a total of ten practice matches on its tour to Portugal with six wins, two draws and two losses. Regarding the team’s preparations for the Asian Cup, the Churchill Brothers defender added, "We are very much focused and will try to give the best shot in the International Friendly against Thailand."

The defender has been consistent in his performances with both the National side and at club level. "I have been getting appreciation with National team, which is always pleasing for a player. We had a good two months in Portugal and it’s not only with me, but the tour has benefited every single player. For me, my personal goal is to keep working on my weakness and improving myself every day," the 24-year-old added.

In reference with the performances of Mohammed Rafi in the practice matches, Singh complemented the former Mahindra United striker stating, "Mohammed Rafi has really done well and has been scoring goals. I am happy for him. He is a very determined player and makes the most of the opportunities that comes his way." The Indian coach was also impressed with the striker’s efforts in Portugal and has given him lots of options up front.

Also the Indian defender shared his views on the chemistry with his partner at the heart of the defense. "Anwar and I are playing together for the National team from three years now. Combination and co-ordination between us is very good but the biggest advantage we have, is in the form of understanding, which has really worked out well for both of us," the Manipur lad explained.
