The Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia has reportedly proposed a tournament to the AIFF based on the highly successful domestic version of the Twenty20 cricket tournament. The Indian ace has reportedly received support from Actor and football enthusiast John Abraham.

Bhutia seems to have prepared a report and has spoken to the AIFF boss, Praful Patel on the matter. However,he played down intensions of buying a team in case the project is accepted by the Federation. If approved the tournament may be played over a six-week period after the conclusion of the I-League.

The project still appears to be in its initial stages and a lot of attention needs to be given to the minute details if it has to materialize.“There has been a proposal. But we need to see whether it can be fit into the football season. It’s still early to say,” said Subrata Dutta, the AIFF Vice-President as quoted on Deccan Herald.
